The Cars of Elvis Presley
By Contributing Editor Calvin Cearley
Elvis Presley always loved a good engine.
From the very meager beginnings of his early career throughout the height in megastardom Elvis owned, sold, and frankly had a hunka hunka burning love for many different kinds of cars.
From concept cars to station wagons let’s take a look at some of the most iconic in the King’s collection.
PINK CADILLAC FLEETWOOD SERIES 60
When Elvis bought it new, it came in blue with a black roof. Elvis had the car painted in his signature pink called Elvis Rose. He eventually gave this car to his mother, and many would say it's the most famous car in the world.
1956 MESSERSCHMITT
1956 CADILLAC ELDORADO
1956 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL
1958 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE
BMW 507
Ordered while he was stationed in Germany, he would later give it to actress Ursula Andress, one of the first Bond girls.
1960 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL MARK V
1961 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER CLOUD
1962 FORD THUNDERBIRD
1967 CADILLAC COUPE DE VILLE
MERCEDES-BENZ 280 SL ROADSTER
Elvis bought this 280 SL as a gift for wife Priscilla. It is now on display in Graceland.
1971 DETOMASO PANTERA
Whether or not Elvis really liked this car or not will remain a mystery... He did shoot the side of it once when it wouldn't start. Bullet holes don't come standard.
1972 CADILLAC CUSTOM ESTATE WAGON
1972 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL MARK IV
1975 FERRARI DINO 308 GT4
1977 TRIUMPH TR6
1973 STUTZ BLACKHAWK III
The Blackhawk III would be the last car Presley ever drove. A few hours later on that fateful day of August 16, 1977, he was found dead.
1964 HONDA SUPER HAWK CB77 MOTORCYCLE
Elvis also enjoyed a good motorcycle. Pictured here with Barbara Stanwyck during the filming of the movie Roustabout in 1964.
